This course help participants learn cybercrime, how to prevent computer hacking and understand trends in cybercrime. As electronic devices, the internet and an array of personal computing devices have become increasingly ubiquitous in our society, so have such technologies also become either the means or the object of a wide range of criminal activity.
The course will also introduce participants to many different types of cybercrime, approach the subject of cybercrime from both doctrinal and policy standpoints, how to identify cybercriminal activity and learn how companies and law enforcement agencies are responding to the dangers these crimes present. Possible scenarios for solving the crimes are introduced, and participants examine legal responses for these issues. The participants become familiar with the basics of solving cybercrimes. By learning how to identify, protect and gather evidence, retrieve data, prepare crime reports and present information in courts, participants master the correct methods for investigating cybercrimes so they can be solved and prosecuted. The course explores computer related crime in cyber space now and in the past.
